The About Section

Hi, I’m Alaina. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I started this substack because I like to write and want to have a voice. So, I’ve stopped screaming into the void and decided to put some thoughts down here…which could just be another type of void. Time will tell. What are these thoughts? Well, they could range from parenting (I have a four-year-old boy) to nature (I like birds but don’t know a whole lot about birds) to the books I am reading (I read a lot) to fitness (I work out a lot and am also a certified personal trainer) to the political (maybe, I might leave that up to more knowledgable peeps, see some of the newsletters I follow, particularly Lyz Lenz’s Men Yell at Me) to odes about how much I love chocolate chip cookies (I promise to share my recipe) to the age-old question what is it to be a woman in the world today and why does this question follow me around so much (this doesn’t seem to bother dudes as much - as in how does my dudeness affect anything and everything I do or think about).
